In dense city-centre environments, achieving optimal telecommunications coverage presents a unique set of challenges. Rooftops of existing buildings are often the only viable locations for antennae and associated equipment, as street-level space is congested with utilities and pedestrian routes must remain operational. While height is essential for signal performance, access constraints, safety requirements, and the need to maintain uninterrupted business operations place significant demands on project delivery.

Ancore was appointed as a fully integrated delivery partner, providing civil engineering works, structural steel fabrication, and specialist lifting services to support a rooftop network upgrade. From the outset, close coordination with the building owner was essential, ensuring all works were planned and executed without impacting daily operations within the occupied building.

With no internal access available to the rooftop telecoms site, all materials and equipment had to be lifted externally from street level. Ancore supplied and operated the crane, managing all lifting operations in line with a detailed lift plan developed by Ancore’s Appointed Person. Safety, control, and precision were paramount in this busy urban environment.

Ancore’s rooftop access–approved engineers worked safely at height, supporting the installation while maintaining constant communication with the lifting team below. The Appointed Person remained on site throughout the works, coordinating each lift in real time with the lift supervisor positioned on the roof via radio, ensuring seamless execution and full control at every stage.

Over a seven-day lifting programme, the project was delivered safely, efficiently, and without disruption to building occupants or surrounding operations. The client expressed a high level of satisfaction with Ancore’s professionalism, coordination, and delivery capability, and has since confirmed their intention to engage Ancore on future city-centre telecommunications projects.
