Ancore was commissioned to programme and deliver a new telecommunications street works site in the seaside town of Portstewart, on the north coast of Northern Ireland. A popular holiday destination set along the same iconic coastline as the Giant’s Causeway, Portstewart attracts high volumes of visitors year-round, making programme certainty and public consideration critical to success.

The coastal setting and busy town location demanded careful planning and coordination. High levels of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, particularly during peak tourist periods, meant works had to be delivered efficiently while minimising disruption to residents, local businesses, and visitors. In addition, the site sat within a visually sensitive environment, requiring a professional, well-managed approach throughout.

Ancore assumed full responsibility for the civil ground works, ensuring all activities were carried out safely, compliantly, and to programme. Alongside this, we managed the complete logistical deployment of the telecommunications monopole and associated equipment. Our experienced team coordinated each phase of the works, maintaining clear sequencing and control to achieve a smooth, uninterrupted installation.

The project was completed within a two-week build programme, despite the challenges presented by location and footfall. The finished site has delivered a significant improvement in mobile phone signal coverage across Portstewart, enhancing connectivity for both the local community and the many holidaymakers who visit the area.

The successful delivery of this project highlights Ancore’s capability to install critical telecommunications infrastructure in high-profile, coastal, and operationally sensitive locations, without compromise on safety, quality, or public experience.
