Ancore was instructed to programme and deliver a new telecommunications street works monopole site along the north coast of Northern Ireland, in a popular seaside holiday destination situated on the same iconic coastline as the Giant’s Causeway. The high-profile coastal setting, combined with an active road network and steady flow of visitors, demanded careful planning, precise execution, and minimal disruption throughout.
As part of the works, Ancore was appointed to carry out a specialist lift of telecommunications equipment onto a newly constructed foundation. This was a critical operation requiring absolute control, accuracy, and confidence in both equipment and delivery. While Ancore has partnered with the client for many years, this project marked the first deployment of Ancore’s new specialist lorry loader, fitted with a PK78 crane and fly jib, to install a 20-metre heavy-duty structure.
Given the live road environment and busy coastal location, detailed lift planning was essential. Ancore developed a comprehensive lift plan that fully considered maximum reach, lifting capacity, crane stability, and load control, ensuring safe operation at every stage. All works were managed entirely in-house, from initial site assessment and method development through to lift execution.
The project also required careful logistical coordination. Ancore managed the transportation of the extended load from the manufacturer’s yard in England, coordinating road haulage and ferry movements before final delivery to site. This end-to-end control ensured materials arrived on time and in the correct sequence to maintain programme certainty.
The advanced reach, precision, and stability of the PK78 crane allowed Ancore’s team to operate safely and efficiently within tight and restricted working conditions. Full control of the load was maintained throughout the lift, enabling accurate placement of the structure onto the foundation without disruption to road users, local businesses, or visitors.
The equipment was installed safely, accurately, and on programme. The successful delivery of this complex lift demonstrated the strength of Ancore’s lifting team, the performance of the new crane configuration, and the company’s ability to manage complex logistics from manufacture through to final installation.
